Dr. Brett E. Casey is a board certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip replacement, knee replacement, and sports injuries. He has practiced at Gulf Coast Orthopedics in Houma, LA since 2004, and has been in practice for over 20 years. He is also involved with the Community Sports Institute at Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC), which serves athletes throughout the Terrebonne Parish Recreation District.

Dr. Casey completed Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology at Louisiana State University in 1994. He then obtained his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center in 1999. Dr. Casey completed his orthopedic residency at Texas A&M University Health Sciences Center, with rotations through Scott and White Memorial Hospital, Olin E. Teague Veterans Center and the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children. Scott and White Memorial Hospital is well-known for the high volume of orthopedic procedures completed there every year, so Dr. Casey gained a substantial amount of experience there before entering private practice. He received his Orthopedic Board Certification in 2006.

Dr. Casey has a special interest in the progression of medicine, seeking to learn new techniques to improve outcomes for his patients. He has completed several continued education course since entering private practice, including courses in anterior total hip replacement, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, treatment of the athlete’s knee, and repair of the throwing shoulder. He is proficient in minimally invasive knee replacement. Dr. Casey also stays up to date with changes in healthcare coverage, so that he is able to recommend treatment plans that are compatible with his patients’ insurance plans.

Dr. Casey frequently appears in videos and commercials for Terrebonne General Medical Center, sharing his expertise in orthopedic surgery. He also speaks to AARP groups about arthritis care and joint replacement. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing and has become quite proficient at the sport, often traveling to play golf at different courses. He also enjoys spending time with his wife Tamara and his four children.
